Okay. Ramadan is basically the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
As soon as Muslims become adults they are obliged to fast. Unless they are ill.
When fasting the main purpose for a Muslim is to pray more and recite the Quran.
Muslims fast from Dawn until Sunset. So it depends on the time in their country on when they start and end their fast.
When fasting Muslims can't consume any foods, drink any liquids, smoke, swear, procrastinate and listen to music. Etc...
(So they maintain a healthy lifestyle)
Fasting is supposed to help develop a good behavior. (:
To Muslims, fasting acts as a shield with which the Muslim protects him/herself from Jahannam (hell).
