Emos: Useualy wears Band tees, dark coloring, black hair, music all the time. Goth: Colored up hair, spikes on clothes, peircings, tatoos.

Yes. There is. Emo style tends to have an over all black way of dressing. Usually with long sleeves that hide away as much skin as possible and skinny jeans. Their hair tends to feather over their face as if they're hiding something. Sometimes if they are generally in it for just the style, popping neon colors may turn up in their outfits. But then again, that's on the edge of being Scene, not emo. As for how they act emos tend to have high emotions(as hints the name) and take things very harshly. They'll use physical pain to distract them from emotional pain.

Goths on the other hand, do too like to where lots of black. But usually a different style. Such as big baggy pants with lots of chains, metal zippers, and loops. I believe those are called trick or trip pants. Or they'll be adorned in large black baggy trench coats. They'll fashion will sometimes relate to victorian era. Their hair varieties are a little more broader and have wicked shapes or designs to them. Things like fishnets, white or black roses, and spiked chokers are appealing to them. Goths are more into dark worship, sometimes satanic, torture, dark creatures, or other dark rituals. They have a more steadied mood and be rather weird and unique.

I think that's an accurate enough description. But then again, this is still very broad and may seem stereotypical.

:D But Torrey is only right on the description physically. I'm Emo but I don't endure physical pain to distract from emotional pain. I cry to get emotional pain out.
way to tell 'em like a man!!!

Charles, you're emo only by physical standards.

And saying emos use physical pain to hide emotional pain is like saying they cut themselves. So I'm not emo cuz I don't cut myself? That's a stereotype.

Well us describing Emos at all is stereotyping. It is a stereotypical description. The whole thing is a rough generalization.

I'm still emo. You can't really say I'm not unless you knew me. You think I'm the same offline? I'm a depressing person offline, often taking my emotions to extremes, which also makes me a slight prick.

See, most people think I have to be depressing to be emo. No, emo is emotional, that means others too. So I can be happy, but I take that too far and I'm also possibly bipolar, so that's a problem.

Look Charles, I don't know you, I just saw a picture of you, so I can't say if you're are or not an emo. If you are, ok, if you're not, ok too. But, after read all of you write, inclusive these lasts posts, this is what I can say about you:
-You're a guy who likes to say you're emo or have emotional problems (like bipolar disorder). I don't know if you do that to express a DISEASE that is SERIOUS or you just kidding (or being hiperbolic) about having a DISEASE (that is SERIOUS).
-You're frequently contradicting yourself. Note: a depressing person is diferent then "be depressed". If you're a depressing person, you're AWAYS depressed, and if you're FREQUENTLY DEPRESSED, that means you can be happy or sad, but you're frequently depressed (that's what you said or wanted to say before). Then you said you're bipolar.
If you want to share this with us, ok, I guess this is a good thing for a sick person, expecially with a emotional/mental disorder (like bipolars, anti-socials, Asperger's or altism). But this is not a disease contest. Nowadays people like to say they have this kind of diseases, like some of my friends...
So, I don't want to say you're not emo, but for me, you seems a guy that like the "outside emo" and like to be one, but increases you're emotions to be in this group.
If you already went to psicologists (or psiquiatrics, don't know for sure) and they CONFIRMED oficially your bipolar disturb, all I can say to you is that wasn't my intention hurt you emotionally at any moment or (worst) say you're a lier. It could be you're imagination or some kind of "emo social" group pressure.
But... Of course. I could be probably wrong because I don't know you.
They aren't diseases, just conditions and disorders.

Yeah, I see now, I wrote this word thinking on another meaning... But I got my point that it's serious. And wasn't my intention being too much rude.

Buuut... I forgot the important. Emo or Goth? Weeell. I want someone nice enough to explain to me the "images" the emos and goths pass to the society...or something like that. Here emos and goths are kinda the same. They dress the same basic black clothes (with dark make up). Emos have the hair in their face, and goths have a more rebel style (but not that much). Also most what Metropal said, and necklaces with crosses, but the new fad here is skull rings (more to goths). The diference is in their "interior"... The emos have that suicide stereotype. Every single person that say it's emo it's sad inside (in groups we can see someone smile), and everyone that's is not emo make fun of them. They are not well seen in society. Basically, Goths are emos without suicide ideas, they are not emotional as emos. Here, goths aren't related to satanic rituals, things and stuff (in my opinion, they are not satanic at all). Resuming, goths here are more well received in society than emos. And looks, with the posts and how you say about them, more what friends tell me, that it's the oposite in USA (emos are more well received than goths).
Sorry for the giant post, but it's a doubt that needs to be explained!

I didn't take not one second of my day to read any of that after I realized you're just insulting me. -_- I'll give it to you straight.

I AM emo. Emo is EMOtional... I'm bipolar, and I'm ADHD. Now you honestly couldn't know for sure unless you knew me so you can either trust me or you can shut up.
Emo.
