It was rich with Diamond and Emerald. And Emerald is extremely rare. It generates 8 times per chunk in a vein of 1 and is only in Extreme Hill biomes.

Somehow I don't think you'll tend to it and you'll let it incinerate the village you've probably built it under.

If there are so many jewels, blow a huge hole, then collect.

It would require an excessive amount of TNT, which is not very cheap, to use as a mining tool, and it would likely blow up many of the ore blocks.

Nope. The nuclear reactor will blow up if the Uranium cells aren't cooled by Cooling Cells. And if there's no plating, the blast radius can be HUGE.
